They "stole" 285 million dollars from Drift. Reaction 1: "Circle should have blocked the USDC taken by the hackers" Reaction 2: "But you can go back in the blockchain blablabla" They are both wrong. Very wrong. And no, the seriousness of the "sector" cannot be earned by making exceptions to the rules we set ourselves. https://t.co/uoSvBxS0I2

This goes against my own beliefs: I don't think buybacks for early projects, above all using treasury, are the most efficient way to use capital, but the market is deciding otherwise. Participants are trading in favor of the @P2Pdotme buyback proposal. -> If passed, $500,000 USDC of the treasury will be used to acquire P2P at prices up to $0.55 over 30 days. Why I'm not convinced by the proposal: Defending $0.55 doesn't make me want to bid and hold to target multiple Xs. I'd prefer to see those 500K used for crazy, high-risk / high-reward paid-user acquisition campaigns rather than buybacks, but that's just me. The proposal has seen only $23K in volume; this isn't much, but futarchy doesn't necessarily need high volume. Anyway, regardless of what i think, there's some beauty in seeing tokenholders having the final call in such a strategic decision. @MetaDAOProject is redefining onchain governance, and that's exciting to be part of the movement.

In the case of P2P: This is a high-growth app. I'd personally prefer to see the treasury being invested in optimizing growth rather than playing around with the token price. My rationale is that if you're "lucky enough" to hit PMF in Web3, then it's better to double down on growth rather than trying to fix short-term PA. The asset will eventually reprice if fundamentals are strong. On the other hand, no floor or buybacks will save a project that doesn't grow.

The author doubts the efficacy of the P2P token buyback, believing that funds should be prioritized for project growth rather than short‑term price support.

🚨#Circle is facing sharp criticism for inconsistently using its #USDC freezing powers, investigator #ZachXBT reveals the company’s delay in 15 cases involving stolen funds totaling $420 million, while it froze 16 innocent commercial wallets. 📉This contradiction threatens USDC’s credibility as a reliable stablecoin. #العملات_المستقرة #كريبتو #أمان_رقمي

Two transactions, $285M gone. The @DriftProtocol exploit isn’t just another hack story rather it’s a clear example of how design flaws can break even well-audited systems. On April 1, 2026 (16:05 UTC), Drift one of @solana top perpetual DEXs was exploited. Before the attack: • TVL ≈ $309M After: • ~$285M drained Almost the entire system was wiped in hours. Important detail: Not a smart contract bug, no code failure, no mnemonic leak, this was a privileged access failure. That shift alone changes how we should think about risk in DeFi. The attacker didn’t “hack” the protocol in the traditional sense. They became the admin. Once that happened, everything else followed naturally. ➤ Step 1: Preparation The attacker created a token: → CVT (CarbonVote Token) Key data: • ~750M total supply • >80% controlled by attacker • ~$500 liquidity on Raydium In reality: worthless. ➤ Step 2: Fake value Drift allows admins to assign oracle sources. The attacker: → Created a custom Switchboard oracle → Set CVT pric

People throw around the word “liquidity” like it is some magic thing. “If we get USDC we will have more liquidity” they say. But what does that even mean? Liquidity for what? Atm it would seem that our 3 main USD stablecoins potentially have different liquidity requirements. USDM for trading, USDCx for on and off ramps, USDA for EMURGO’s partners’ payment solutions. Where “liquidity” gets directed will depend on demand of those services.
