ORBS launches Ultra 2.0, providing comprehensive infrastructure for Perp DEXs, with the potential to capture a rapidly growing market.
⏹️ORBS's Ultra 2.0, unveiled today, why should we pay attention?
✔️Given the community's feedback that the announcement is difficult to understand, I will try to explain it more intuitively.
Today, ORBS unveiled Perpetual Hub Ultra 2.0.
On the surface, it might look like just a "version update."
However, if we look closely at the details, it becomes much clearer what market ORBS is targeting in the future.
✔️As shown in the attached image at the bottom, Perp DEXs are emerging in large numbers these days.
Following Hyperliquid's immense success, most exchanges are preparing for derivative RWA futures trading, and numerous new projects are awaiting launch.
However, when you actually try to build a futures exchange yourself, there are more difficulties than you might expect.
It's not just about creating an order book~
✔️Liquidity must be secured,
✔️Hedging is also required,
✔️A liquidation system is also necessary,
✔️And a price oracle must be operated.
✔️Furthermore, to provide a UI that satisfies traders, the development costs and operational burden are considerable.
Therefore, many projects recently are moving towards utilizing already proven infrastructure rather than building everything from scratch.
It is precisely at this point that the market ORBS is targeting emerges.
Even with Ultra 1.0, ORBS created an environment where exchanges could quickly launch futures trading services by simply branding it as their own.
And with this Ultra 2.0, it has gone a step further.
Whereas previously some functions had to be connected to external services,
now ORBS directly provides almost all components, from execution to settlement, hedging, liquidation, price calculation, and professional trading UI!!
From a project's perspective, this significantly reduces the time spent connecting and testing various providers!
✔️The speed of service launch is also accelerated,
✔️And the systems that need to be operated become simpler.
The aspect I particularly focused on in this announcement was liquidity.
▶️Perp DEXs ultimately survive only if trades are executed well.
No matter how good the UI is, if trades are delayed or slippage is high, users will immediately move to another exchange.
Ultra 2.0 is not an approach to create liquidity independently.
It's a structure that simultaneously utilizes liquidity and hedges across centralized exchanges with sufficient liquidity and major on-chain Perp markets.
In other words, it means that newly launched exchanges can create a quite competitive execution environment from the start.
▶️TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) was also an interesting change.
It might sound a bit difficult,
but simply put, it's a technology that verifies at the hardware level that trade execution, price calculation, and liquidation processes have not been tampered with.
✔️As DeFi now needs to deal with institutions and larger funds, aspects like this are likely to become increasingly important in the future.
▶️Another impressive point was the UI.
ORBS doesn't just provide the backend,
✔️A professional interface based on TradingView (which is a very important aspect for me as a trader)
✔️TP/SL,
✔️Bracket orders,
✔️One-click trading,
✔️Account abstraction,
✔️And even gas-less transactions are provided.
Through this, users can trade like on a CEX while directly managing their assets on-chain!
I believe QuickSwap's recent adoption of ORBS as the default Perp infrastructure for all chains is part of the same trend.
✔️The decision to replace Orderly, which was previously used on Polygon, with ORBS, indicates that QuickSwap made this choice after actual operation, and it also signals that the technical verification is largely complete.
Therefore, in today's announcement, I saw the market first, rather than the technology.
Even now, there are quite a few Perp DEXs preparing for launch.
It's unlikely that these projects will build all the infrastructure themselves.
Because it takes a long time and costs a lot.
Ultimately, it's highly probable that more projects will choose proven execution infrastructure.
Ultra 2.0 is targeting precisely that market.
✔️What remains important for ORBS now is the speed of adoption.
The product has been developed to a very high degree of completeness.
What is needed now is more collaboration with Perp DEXs.
Which projects will choose ORBS after QuickSwap,
and how actively ORBS will pursue joint marketing and ecosystem expansion, will likely be the most important points to watch going forward.
