$POL Polygon officially enters a deflationary state: The amount of POL burned exceeds 107 million in 2026.

Polygon has reached a significant milestone where the amount of tokens burned surpasses the amount of newly issued tokens.

🔸 105.2 million POL have been minted and 107.7 million POL have been burned through base fees.

🔸 The network officially reaches a net deflationary state, reducing POL supply.

🔸 Sandeep said this is due to high transaction volume. In May, Polygon processed 198 million transactions, more than any other public chain.

👉 Polygon achieving a deflationary state is an extremely positive economic signal. It shows that network usage demand is large enough to generate sustainable token burn pressure. This is especially impressive as Polygon zkEVM is set to shut down on July 1 and they are transitioning to transfers via bridges. If this momentum continues, POL could become one of the most economically attractive tokens among L2s.
