    🔒 Aptos Blockchain Flaw Found by Ethical Hackers Ethical hackers discovered a critical flaw in the Aptos blockchain that could have put $70 billion in crypto at risk, according to Coindesk. The vulnerability, which has since been patched, gave researchers a near-90% success rate at breaking a core security guarantee. Attack costs were estimated at just hundreds of dollars using a $3,000 server.

    Blockchain security firm Hexens disclosed that in February of this year it discovered a critical vulnerability in the Aptos blockchain Move Virtual Machine (Move VM), and completed a fix within hours of reporting, with no loss of funds. Hexens stated that the flaw stemmed from a cache handling defect leading to type confusion, theoretically allowing an attacker to obtain high‑privilege roles such as stablecoin minting, cross‑chain bridges and DeFi protocols. The research team used roughly $3,000 worth of servers to build a near‑mainnet simulation environment, testing the exploit path about 20 times, succeeding approximately 17 to 18 times, and estimated that the vulnerability could affect about $250 million of Aptos native TVL; if it further impacted cross‑chain bridges, stablecoins, and centralized exchanges, the theoretical systemic risk exposure could reach up to roughly $70 billion. Aptos said the exploitability in a real environment is extremely low and that it was promptly patched through its bug bounty program, affecting no users or funds. (CoinDesk) https://t.co/yOr1b2HAc1
