Proposal 142681 is LIVE on $ICP https://t.co/pgLvpBmTJ0 Node providers, at the current price level, will receive 21.4% less ICP = large inflation cut if the price stays under $2.8. Shoutout to @icterminal for the data and @ajki76 for the meaningful posts, that I will analyze in this video. This is a big step in the right direction, towards sustainability.

$ICP Node Providers are not selling all of their node rewards. In fact, most only sell enough ICP to cover their operating expenses (this chart displays the supply held by Node Providers). So what happens to the rest? They typically hold it and strategically time their sales, waiting for higher ICP prices before selling. Before Mission 70, node reward profitability was exceptionally high. According to the M70 Whitepaper, returns on investment could reach up to 5x. After M70, profitability declined significantly, but operating a node remains profitable and continues to provide a solid ROI. This is why Proposal 142681 is particularly meaningful. It further reduces inflation while also strengthening the incentives for node providers. Previously, node providers had little reason to be concerned about ICP's market price. Under the new proposal, however, they have a direct incentive to keep the price above $2.80. If ICP trades below that level, their rewards are reduced. In addition, Cloud Engines create strong incentives for node providers to remain active and contribute to the network. Overall, I'm very pleased with these proposals because they better align the interests of node providers with the long‑term health of the ICP ecosystem. Good news for the tokenomics of $ICP ✅ DFINITY has proposed to increase the minimum for the ICP to XDR exchange rate used in reward computations to 1 ICP ≥ 2 XDR from currently 1 ICP ≥ 1 XDR. This affects node rewards, which are specified in XDR amounts, which then get converted into ICP amounts before being minted. The present proposal increases the minimum conversion rate to 1 ICP ≥ 2 XDR. This is warranted to protect ICP tokenomics, as the vast majority of node rewards that are minted get sold on the market. If the proposal gets adopted, node provider rewards may be lower in future months, depending on the ICP price. Basically, since Node rewards are denominated in XDR and minted in ICP, if the price of ICP continues dropping, that leads to more minting (I spoke about this concern in my previous videos). If the new proposal will pass, the inflation rate should reduce. I will break this down in a separate video. Stay tuned.
